
ENCINITAS (CNS) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Encinitas Tuesday, authorities said.
The fatality near Vulcan Avenue and East F Street was reported at 8:25 a.m., according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Scott Amos. The pedestrian died at the scene, he said.
There was no word on how many passengers were stranded on the train, but Amtrak was keeping them on board for safety reasons. Train service through the area was stopped as of early Tuesday afternoon.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
