SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Unified School District's new superintendent announced a partnership with parent advisory groups Tuesday.
The parent leaders come from various groups, including the PTA and District Advisory Council. They say they're dedicated to establishing a partnership so they can share the parent perspective.
Cindy Marten says she is looking forward to meeting with the groups this summer.
"This board's mission is to have a quality school in every neighborhood. Communities have quality schools and we build them together and we won't do it without the parents, so I really appreciate this show of support," she said.
Marten was named superintendent last week after Bill Kowba announced his retirement.
