High-speed chase ends in crash

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A police chase from City Heights to Normal Heights Wednesday ended with police arresting a teenage girl and another person.

The pursuit began when the driver of a silver Honda two-door refused to yield to a patrol officer at Swift Avenue and Wightman Street about 2:15 p.m., San Diego police said.

The driver went east and north for about a mile before losing control of the car and crashing on 35th Street near Adams Avenue, SDPD public-affairs Lt. Andra Brown said.

At that point, a teenage girl bailed out of the car and started running, only to be caught moments later. Officers had both suspects in custody less than 10 minutes after the start of the chase, Brown said.

Brown did not know why the officer tried to stop the car.
