SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – The San Diego Chargers announced Thursday that they have released veteran linebacker Takeo Spikes.
Thirty-six-year-old Spikes played 15 seasons in the NFL, including the years 2011 to 2012 in San Diego.
He has appeared in 219 games, starting 215, including 32 games during his tenure with the Chargers. He has tallied 1,737 career tackles, including 218 tackles with the Chargers and has recorded 11 100-tackle seasons.
"Takeo is a true professional and a class act," said General Manager Tom Telesco. "We're grateful for his many contributions to the Chargers organization, both on and off the field, and wish him nothing but the best in the future."
