SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Another hungry baby sea lion has come ashore, this time in Imperial Beach.
It was spotted Monday morning by the Pier Plaza. Lifeguards crated it and called SeaWorld.
There's been an alarming amount of malnourished sea lion pups showing up along Southern California beaches, but this seems to be a different case.
"He looked healthy -- he didn't appear to be emaciated. It appears its been captured before due to the tag on its fin," Lilfeguard Oscar Alvarez said.
The pup is being checked out by animal experts.
As of Friday, SeaWorld has rescued 240 sea lions so far this year. That's more than 2011 and 2012 combined.
