EL CAJON (CBS 8) – A man who opened fire in an El Cajon neighborhood was arrested in front of his home on Tuesday night, after giving himself up to Sheriff's deputies.
Deputies stormed a house in the 1700 block of Pepperwood Drive around 10:45 p.m. and arrested 38-year-old Neil Crane.
A sergeant told News 8 Tuesday night that they received the initial call of a man with a gun holed up inside a home around 9:30 p.m.
A family member told News 8 that Crane is a father of three who lives at the home with his wife and children – ages two, five, and eight – who were not home at the time.
Sheriff's deputies found at least one rifle and several pellet guns inside the home.
Family members say Crane's wife went to the Sheriff's command post during the incident and his children were taken to a relative's house.
Investigators considered calling in SWAT or evacuating the neighborhood, but Crane surrendered on his front lawn before further action was taken.
No injuries were reported. As of this report, it's not clear if the man is facing any charges.
