SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – The National 9-11 Flag is in San Diego, making its final West Coast appearance before it's retired to the National 9-11 Memorial and Museum.
The flag was discovered in the rubble of the World Trade Center and has been stitched back together by more than 25,000 Americans in all 50 states.
The flag has been touring with the New York Says Thank You Organization and working in part with the 9-12 Generation Project, helping educate children about 9-11.
"We have a generation of kids that have had their entire lives effected by 9-11, but have never been properly educated about what 9-11 means," explained Tracey Vitchers with the 9-12 Generation Project.
The flag will remain on display through Sunday at the Convention Center during the National School Board Association's Annual Conference.
