NORTH ENCANTO (CNS) - A suspect chased by San Diego police who crashed his vehicle Saturday into an apartment building then fled remained at-large Sunday, department officials said.

It happened at 10:09 p.m., when police pursued a vehicle that ran a stop sign at 60th Street and Brooklyn Avenue and shortly thereafter crashed into an apartment building at Imperial Avenue and 54th Street, according to SDPD officer Dan Lasher.

"The car went into the building and residents were evacuated until a structural engineer came out to check for damages," Lasher said. "The residents were back in the apartment by midnight."

Lasher said the suspect fled on foot and was being sought by police.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s who was wearing a blue sweatshirt and jeans.

The suspect's sweatshirt was found discarded nearby.
