Is San Diego suffering from "Filner Fatigue?"

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego Mayor Bob Filner has been at the center of sexual harassment allegations for more than two weeks. The story has attracted national attention, but have San Diegans had enough?

A throng of reporters chased around the mayor Thursday at an MTS news conference. It was the mayor's first public appearance since alleged victims came forward. This bizarre situation was reported to the country live on CNN.

Mayor Filner's controversy continues to captivate the nation, with one alleged sexual harassment victim after another coming forward with specifics. But now that we've heard from seven women, have we heard enough? Are San Diegans starting to suffer from "Filner Fatigue?"

Psychiatrist Philip Botkiss says it depends who you ask. While some people will say enough is enough, others want more. And because this involves the mayor, they deserve to get it.

"I think people have a right to know what is going on with their mayor and what's going on in their city, and so it seems appropriate to me," Botkiss said.

The mayor showed up at the MTS event to show that he's still running the city.

"I'm glad he was here, because he is the mayor of San Diego and he should be here," MTS Chairman Harry Mathis said at the event.

Running the city while running from reporters who aren't getting their questions answered, but also aren't showing any signs of fatigue from trying.
