Memorial service planned for Christina and Ethan Anderson

SANTEE (CNS) - A memorial service for Christina and Ethan Anderson, who were allegedly killed by a family friend also suspected of kidnapping 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, was planned for next week, it was reported Saturday.

The public memorial service for Christina Anderson, 44, and her 8-year-old boy Ethan is to be held at 11 a.m. next Saturday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church at 9310 Dalehurst in Santee, U-T San Diego reported.

The mother and brother of Hannah Anderson, who was rescued in Idaho six days after her abduction, were found dead in James Lee DiMaggio's burned-out Boulevard home on Aug. 4.

Authorities began looking for Hannah and DiMaggio -- whom she and Ethan had known their entire lives -- in Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area after a group of horseback riders reported spotting and speaking with them there.

Authorities located DiMaggio, 40, with the El Capitan High School student Aug. 10 near Morehead Lake, Idaho, about 80 miles northeast of Boise. He was fatally shot that afternoon by a federal hostage-rescue team.

Hannah was unharmed, and was told of the deaths of her mother and brother after being rescued, authorities said.

A suspected motive for the crimes has yet to be disclosed, but family friends told reporters that DiMaggio seemed to have developed an infatuation with the teenager, a change that made her uncomfortable.

Hannah made her first known public appearance on Thursday since her ordeal ended, attending a crowded fundraiser for her family at a restaurant in her hometown of Lakeside.

Her father Brett Anderson said the money raised at the event would help meet "a lot of expenses in front of us."

He said Hannah was "doing good day by day, and we'll just keep moving forward from here."
