AM 760's Roger Hedgecock was elected as mayor of San Diego in 1983. In 1985, Roger resigned from office amid a controversy regarding campaign contributions.
Following a week of "treatment" and a week of vacation time, Mayor Filner is once again back in San Diego, attempting to run the city in spite of the spectacle of his sexual harassment scandal.
With some words of advice for our current mayor, Roger penned an open letter to Mr. Filner, which appeared in today's San Diego Union Tribune.
The time has come for you to resign as mayor of San Diego.
I am in a unique position to give you this advice because, as you know, the time to resign came for me.
You have lost something that cannot be regained. You have lost the bond of trust that must exist between at least a majority of San Diego city voters and the mayor.
I lost that trust and I resigned.
