SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The identity of a man who died while eluding police has been revealed. Carlos Arias was killed after he ran onto Interstate 5, getting hit by multiple vehicles Friday night.
It was just before 9:30 p.m. when San Diego Police tried to question the 27-year-old, because he matched the description of a man involved in a domestic violence incident in the 2800 block of Boston Avenue.
Arias then took off on foot, ran down the freeway on-ramp and tried to cross the southbound lanes of I-5 near 28th Street close to Barrio Logan.
"He made it to the last number one lane near the center divider. He was struck by one vehicle and then two to three vehicles after that," said Lt. Paul Rorrison with the San Diego Police Department.
Arias was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Arias wasn't involved in any crime.
