Vista house fire sends one man to hospital

VISTA (CBS 8 / CNS) - A fire caused about $31,000 in damage to a Vista home and left four people displaced, a fire official said Sunday.

The fire started for unknown reasons Saturday around 9:30 p.m. in the living room of the house on Robelini Drive near Sycamore Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Ned Vander Pol of the Vista Fire Department.

The homeowner -- who was hospitalized with an undisclosed non-burn injury -- rescued a dog from the burning home before fire crews arrived, Vander Pol said. The fire caused about $25,000 in damage to the structure and another estimated $6,000 to its contents, he said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the four displaced residents, Vander Pol said.
