SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A new proposed ordinance could clear the air in Coronado.
The city council is meeting Tuesday to consider a secondhand smoke ordinance. It seeks to eliminate smoking on almost all public properties.
The proposal came to light after residents started complaining about secondhand smoke in outdoor dining areas and sidewalks where people gathered to smoke.
Similar ordinances are in place in Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Del Mar, National City and 64 other California cities.
