SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Wednesday marked an important day at Camp Pendleton for a very special group of Marines.
A re-activation ceremony was held for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force as it prepares to head to Afghanistan on a history making deployment
CBS News 8 Photojournalist Scott Hall shows in the above video how the day was all about tradition.
The Pendleton Marines will deploy to southwest Afghanistan early next year and help coordinate the withdrawal of the United States from the region. And while it's a history-making deployment, the risks are still great.
