SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A knife-wielding man robbed a Park West-area tobacco shop and escaped with an undisclosed amount, a police officer said Saturday.

The suspect pulled a knife from his backpack and demanded money at about 2:40 p.m. Friday from a clerk at Mist at 1819 Fifth Ave., San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said.

The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount, and the suspect ran north on Fifth Avenue towards Fir Street, Cali said.

Police described the robber as white, 35 to 45, 5 feet 11 and 160 pounds with brown shaggy hair, brown eyes, a brown beard and an overgrown mustache. He was wearing a faded black baseball cap, a zipped-up brown hooded sweatshirt, a black t-shirt and light blue jeans.
