SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A woman was arrested and taken into custody for allegedly trying to steal thousands of dollars worth of high-end handbags from a store inside Fashion Valley mall.
Witnesses reported a man and a woman walked into the Salvatore Ferragamo store at around 8pm and raced out of the store with about seven handbags on their arms valued at more than $10,000 in total.
The woman ran, while throwing away the bags, into a nearby parking garage and was arrested trying to hide underneath a car, according to Lt. Paul Rorrison of the San Diego Police Department.
Two witnesses helped point police officers in the direction where the female suspect ran. One witness, who has been an employee at Salvatore Ferragamo since 2012, says one of the suspects shoved him during their escape.
CBS News 8 cameras caught the robbery suspect crying during her arrest while trying to explain the situation to the arresting officers.
The male suspect remains at large although police say they have identified him.
No weapons were used during the robbery and no injuries were reported. All handbags have been returned to the retailer, according to police.
