SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Nasty winter weather across the country is grounding flights at Lindbergh Field Monday.

Ice and snow back East are to blame for hundreds of flight cancellations Monday, including flights through Lindbergh Field.

"There was some build-up on the fuselage, and wings, the engines," traveler Matt McClendon said. "I don't think any planes were landing when we took off -- they probably stopped landing an hour or so earlier than that."

Monday at Lindbergh Field there are dozens of delayed or canceled flights, according to its website.

The weather left travelers like Kim Wickersham and Rebecca Bloomfield stranded in San Diego.

"It was very frustrating for everyone in line," Kim said.

The two were supposed to leave Saturday for Kansas City, but the weather has kept them in San Diego until Monday.

Fliers are being advised to check with their airline for updated flight information before arriving at the airport.
