SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Golfers tee-off with Lakeside Firefighters Tuesday to raise money to fund after school programs for East County youth.
The Lakeside Firefighter's Association is hosting the first Lakeside Firefighters Golf Tournament at Cottonwood Golf Course benefiting Stoney's Kids, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that funds programs that help East County children develop skills, self-esteem and confidence.
The event will include a raffle, giveaways and a new car for anyone who gets a hole in one. Contests will also be held for longest drive, closest to the pin, and putting.
Takeda California, a local drug discovery company which conducts several company-wide efforts that support local non-profit organizations, schools and the environment each year, will match every dollar raised at the event up to $2,500.
Since its inception in 1991, Stoney's Kids has raised more than $650,000 to provide kids with a safe and effective learning space after school. Stoney's Kids provides programs that not only help kids mentally through tutoring programs but also help build strong, healthy kids by engaging them in physical activities.
