SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - More than 50 wounded warriors from around the country are here in San Diego to play some tennis.
The third annual National Wounded Warrior Tennis Camp kicked off at the Balboa Tennis Club Tuesday.
Wounded and ill service members from all four branches are learning how to play a game that not only helps with their physical rehabilitation, but their emotional healing as well.
"Tennis, as most people know, is a very social sport. So being able to bring these people together from all over the country gives them the opportunity to meet people who are going through situations just like them. They form friendships which last well into the future," Steve Kappes of the San Diego District Tennis Association said.
All expenses for service members participating in the four-day camp are covered through donations and sponsorships.
