NATIONAL CITY (CBS 8) - Fallen service members were honored at ceremonies and observances around the county Monday, including at La Vista Memorial Park in National City.
Members of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association conducted the Navy's symbolic Two-bell Ceremony as part of the observance.
Christopher Lawrence, a Marine veteran who was wounded in combat, says he was touched by the tradition.
"It reminds me of Taps, how it's so simple, somber and evokes such emotions because of it," Lawrence said.
Lawrence and Marine veteran Mark Zambon, who was also wounded in combat, were both recognized for their service during the ceremony.
