New information on cause of Navy drone crash

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – There is new information on the cause of the crash of a Navy drone on the San Diego-based cruiser Chancellorsville.

According to a report obtained by U-T San Diego, the ship's captain Andrew Hesser did little to divert the drone after it malfunctioned during a training exercise.

The crash breached the ship's hull, injured two sailors and caused $30 million in damage.

The report recommended administrative action against Hesser and three members of his crew.
