Man in life-threatening condition after cliff fall
SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - An 18-year old man is in life-threatening condition after falling over a cliff at Torrey Pines.
Friends first reported they were taking photos when it happened Tuesday night. The man landed 75 to 90 feet below on the rocky shoreline.
Rescue crews had to move fast because the tide was rising and they were already in boot-deep water.
"So it was imperative that he be extricated quickly, that's why we used the helicopter, with the tide coming up. To make sure that he was out there for his own injuries but also so that the tide didn't impact him and the rescuers,” said David Gerboth with the SDFD.
The man was airlifted to Scripps Hospital where he is considered to be in life-threatening condition due to major head trauma.
