No Spoilers Here - Minnesotans Stand By Their Own
ST. PAUL, Minn., March 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Following Monday's explosive break-up episode of ABC TV's "The Bachelor," KTMY/myTalk 107.1 wanted to shout to the world its support for one of its own. After Arie Luyendyk, Jr. dumped his Prior Lake, Minn. resident fiancé, Becca Kufrin, the station quickly posted 26 digital billboards across the Minneapolis/St. Paul market boldly stating: "Becca – You'll always have a rose from Minnesota."
Luyendyk, Jr. proposed to Minnesota's Becca Kufrin during the final rose ceremony, only to break the engagement with her weeks later while expressing his regret in passing up the season's "runner up" Lauren Burnham. Not cool, Arie. Not cool.
"Arie cruelly dumped Becca," says myTalk 107.1 Program Director Amy Daniels. "Becca is from Prior Lake. She knows that Minnesotans stand up for each other. myTalk 107.1 felt like Becca deserved to know that her hometown has her back. As Julia Roberts' character in the classic film, 'Pretty Woman' said...'Big mistake (Arie). Big. HUGE.'"
"We are Minnesotans, that means we take care of our own," says Colleen Lindstrom, co-host of the "Colleen & Bradley Show" on myTalk 107.1. "There was no excuse for the rotten way that Arie treated Becca, and we wanted her to know that we've got her back! myTalk is 100% #TeamBecca!"
The billboards generated national attention, including a shout-out on the live show, "The Bachelor: After The Final Rose," from host Chris Harrison during his interview with Kurfrin. To the delight of audiences and social media followers, Becca Kufrin was named the next "Bachelorette" on the same show. Her season premieres on May 28.
