SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - A student anonymously reported to school administration that another student made a threat on social media on Wednesday.
The threat alluded to a shooting at Olympian High School in Chula Vista.
Chula Vista Police Department School Resource Officers identified a 16-year-old female student in the 10th grade as the suspect who made the threat.
Officers interviewed the suspect and her mother. The suspect said the threat was meant “as a joke” and “thought it would be funny”.
A search of the suspect's house was performed, but no weapons were found.
The suspect was arrested for making a threat to the school and taken to Juvenile Hall.
The threat was made when classes at Olympian High School were already out for the day.
