Mild and dry weather in store for San Diego County

Weather Update: Monday, December 10, 2018 at 4:45 a.m.

Fairly mild and dry weather for this week. Cool and seasonal temperatures through Wednesday. A weak to moderate Santa Ana will occur Thursday, warming temperatures west of the mountains. 

A Detailed Look at December 10th:

  • High rip current risk. Water temperature 60-62. New west-northwest swell, heights 3-6 ft. UV index for San Diego is moderate (3). 
  • High temperatures Monday mild, near average. Coastal highs 64-67, normal around 65. Inland highs 65-68, normal around 69. Mountain highs 57-65, normal around 52. Desert highs around 70-73, normal around 68. 
  • Humidity along the coast and at inland locations will remain fairly mild Monday. Dew points in the 50s for the coast, lower 40s inland and deserts, much drier for the mountains. Humidity will see a slow increase throughout the day. Inland area dew points will approach the 50s and mountains will see dew points into the 40s. 
  • High clouds will persist throughout the day, decreasing Monday night into Tuesday.

The Week Ahead:

  • Low pressure is set move across the West Coast Tuesday. Temperatures cool as low pressure brings cold polar air further south. There is no rain expected from this system. 
  • High pressure expected to build in the Great Basin later this week. A weak to moderate Santa Ana event is expected as high pressure increases behind a low pressure trough. Inland and coastal temperatures will increase well above seasonal norms Thursday.
