AM 760's Mike Slater is father to two young ones and they've inspired him to combine two of his passions: his kids and history.
According to Mike, “Imagine Jack and the History Kids” is the story of a boy who gets bored with his video games. Jack's mom suggests he go outside and use his imagination. It’s been years since Jack has tried this! He goes outside and fortunately his friend Paul is speeding by on his bicycle. Jack jumps on the back and asks him why he’s riding so fast. Paul tells Jack to use his imagination.
Suddenly, the bicycle transforms into a horse! It’s 1775 and they’re colonists in Boston! Jack’s friend is pretending to be Paul Revere and Jack is along for the ride. Throughout the book the two encounter numerous historic figures before making it back just in time for dinner.
Mike says, “My 5-month-old loves the colorful pictures, my 22-month-old loves the rhyming, an 8-year-old will love the history lesson and a 12-year-old will never forget the life lessons!”
